In the past two years, we New Yorkers have faced the challenge of rebuilding not just our skyscrapers, but our confidence--the thing that sets us apart from everyone else. Unfortunately, our economy hasn’t recovered as quickly as our attitude, and the city has begun trying to increase revenue by stripping people of their basic dignity. I believe, however, that New York can promote plentiful affordable housing and still keep taxes low; I believe that we can improve the quality of our children’s education by giving parents a real choice in where their children learn; I remain committed to the idea that the “War on Drugs” harms more people than it helps; I think New Yorkers must remain able to congregate and express themselves freely; and I believe our nation should continue to support its allies. My goal is to show that young people have the power to make an impact in local politics. We have been given an opportunity to make our children’s New York a place of peace, love, unity, and respect for all--a place of hope. I urge all New Yorkers, especially young people, to vote on November 4!
