Dear Neighbor:
It has been an honor to serve and represent the residents of the 17th Council District for the past two years.
Born and raised in the 17th Council District, I know firsthand the needs of our community. I am the son of Congressman Jose E. Serrano and I have had the good fortune of learning from a very early age the vital importance of community service.
In the City Council I will continue to fight for those who are most vulnerable in our society: our seniors and our children. Libraries and schools, senior centers and child daycare will continue to be priorities for me. Proper support for these necessary programs must be maintained if we are to provide a bright future for our youth, while at the same time providing vital services for our seniors.
Moreover, as Chair of the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and International Intergroup Relations, I understand the important role that our libraries and cultural organizations play in the overall enrichment and enhancement of our City. I will continue to fight for our City’s fair share of funding from the state and federal governments to ensure that our City will be able to provide the services that our community needs and deserves.
I am very proud of my first term in the City Council and I look forward to accomplishing even more. I thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to working with my constituents and other elected officials to build a stronger community.
