As Councilman for the 51st District of Staten Island, I have used my experience as a prosecutor, husband, father and businessman to address the issues which matter most to Staten Island. As a parent now raising my family in the same town where I grew up, I am determined to continue the fight to preserve and protect those qualities which make Staten Island the ideal place to live.
I upheld my promise to curtail reckless overdevelopment by enacting sweeping zoning laws on the South Shore which now outlaw the construction of townhouses and dense developments in many areas. I am now advancing new initiatives which will further protect the character of our communities.
Standing up for the best interests of Staten Island residents, I voted against the largest tax increases in history. I said NO to higher Property, Sales and Income Taxes which have unfairly targeted Staten Island seniors and families. I will continue to fight to reduce taxes in order to encourage families to continue to live and shop here.
Determined to meet the educational needs of Staten Island, I negotiated the preservation of 16 acres on the South Shore in order to create a new School Complex and have secured more than 11 million dollars to add classrooms and improvements to our existing Schools. Committed to preserving open space and expanding recreational opportunities I have added dozens of acres to our parks. And by securing more than 20 million parks dollars, we will soon see the first recreational fields and facilities built in decades.
By entrusting me with your vote you will allow me the honor of continuing to work to keep Staten Island the great place it is.
