There is a need in Staten Island for its people to be politically active. There are real problems in the city and in the South Shore that require real solutions, and those require an active, energetic City Councilman. As City Councilman, I will work to reverse the tide of uncontrolled, excess development that threatens to destroy neighborhoods and communities in the South Shore. I will actively speak out to make sure that Staten Island receives its fair share of attention from both the city and state. It is long past time for the state and federal government to recognize the fiscal crisis in the city, and a proper City Council should play an active role in making all realize the importance of a thriving and vibrant city, and that such a great city requires support from all of its neighbors. Most importantly, I will connect my office with the various communities in the district to ensure that everyone has equal and open access to the city government and its services. If I am elected, no City Councilman will be more connected to his or her voters than that of the South Shore of Staten Island. Whatever the politics or principles of the voters, all should have fair and adequate access to the government in order to benefit from it. To this effect, in this campaign I pledge to make myself available to all voters; you may reach me via phone at 718-667-1028, or via e-mail at roehlsybing@aol.com.
