1. What is the most important issue in Council District 9 you would address if elected?
Education: Our children are being shortchanged.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Affordable housing, Senior Services, Responsible Community Policing, and Small Business Opportunities and Creation.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
There are any number of important issues that must be dealt with by the next City Councilman of District 9. A few of those issues include education, affordable housing, and senior services.
Getting appropriate funding for education from City Hall and Albany is very important and we must never stop advocating for our children to those who consistently shortchange them. But, of equal importance is building a network within the community that supports our children in all phases of their education. Funding will get us most of the way, but getting the community-at-large more involved is a critical ingredient in helping truly educate our children.
We also must have housing that is affordable to the people who live in our community, not what is considered affordable compared to other communities. It is an abomination that the people who have sustained our community through the tough times can no longer afford to call their community ‘home’. We will fight for responsible housing development in our community.
Senior citizens are one of the fastest growing segments of our population. Our seniors are living longer so now is not the time to be cutting back on senior services. Instead, we need leaders with the vision to look down the road and find ways to expand senior services, not reduce them. Our seniors should not be forced to decide between filling a prescription or buying food.
I am Daryl G. Bloodsaw and I need your support and your vote to help me become the next City Councilman in District 9. Together we can make a difference and stabilize our community for today and into the future.
