1. What is the most important issue in the city you would address if elected?
Mayor Bloomberg took office only a few months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and led the City through its most severe fiscal crisis since the 1970s while restoring confidence and stability to a shaken city. He closed multi-billion dollar budget deficits, while still protecting our quality of life and investing record amounts in education and affordable housing. Today, unemployment is lower than it was before 9/11, crime is at a 40-year low, education test scores are reaching historic highs and the City’s streets are cleaner than they have been in three decades.
Mayor Bloomberg’s fought for control of our schools, ending decades of finger-pointing. He took responsibility for our public schools and implemented historic reforms, which are now giving our kids the opportunities they deserve. Standards and accountability are delivering the highest scores ever on Citywide reading and math tests.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Mayor Mike Bloomberg is committed to building a City of Opportunity for all New Yorkers. He launched a five borough economic plan to create jobs, reclaim our abandoned waterfront and invest in our communities. By promoting growth of diverse industries like film production, tourism, and biotechnology, the Mayor has created tens of thousands of good jobs. Mayor Bloomberg’s $3 billion affordable housing program is on its way to providing affordable homes for more than 200,000 New Yorkers.
To make government more open and responsive, Mayor Bloomberg created the 311 Citizen Service Center, giving all New Yorkers a direct line to their government. Mayor Bloomberg will continue to use technology to make government services available to everyone who needs them
