1. What is the most important issue in Council District 49 you would address if elected?

Staten Island health care system is in a precarious state with Richmond University Medical Center, one of only 2 hospitals on the island, in serious debt. We need more public funding of hospitals and to expand the services to our uninsured and under-insured residents.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

City schools need to be a budget priority even during difficult economic times.

Diversify economy with good, quality and green jobs by development of the North Shore waterfront and North Shore business districts.

Transportation is the key to keeping our city vibrant and moving. I will be advocating for transit dollars from the MTA and solutions to particular transportation problems around express buses, traffic patterns, links to light rail, ferry service.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

A lifetime of leadership, involvement, and advocacy with results on the North Shore of Staten Island working with communities from Arlington to South Beach has prepared me for the role of City Councilmember for the 49th District.
