1. What is the most important issue in Council District 9 you would address if elected?
Rodney will fight to make NYC a more equitable place to live – where all families enjoy quality public schools to send their children with quality education delivered in every classroom, access to good paying jobs and where elected officials are more accountable to everyday people than wealthy donors.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Rodney Carroll will also work to create economic opportunities, employment initiatives and real jobs with a living wage. He’ll fight to ensure senior services keep pace with the needs of our elders, affordable housing, a fair share of City services and improvements, and equitable treatment for all, including the LBGT community.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Rodney Carroll learned the values of family, hard work and giving back to the community from his mother and both grandmothers. He attended our public schools and worked his way through college. At NYC’s Special Services for Children and HRA, Rodney worked to help families in crisis receive the services they needed and spoke out against injustices and policies that hurt children and families. He was elected union Delegate and executive board member at Social Service Employees Union Local 371 and served as a staff organizer. He earned a reputation as an effective problem solver, and tough negotiator.
His dedication to worker’s rights, led him to fight for social and economic justice.
Rodney Carroll is the only candidate for this city council position who signed Affordable Housing pledge outside City Hall Park earlier this year.
He worked throughout his life for quality education; child care; safe, healthy and affordable housing; accessible healthcare and social services, and equal treatment and rights for all.
