1. What is the most important issue in Council District 9 you would address if elected?
Housing.
The question of affordable housing speaks to the rising appreciation of housing in District 9. The residents of District 9 need physical and economic security when it comes to where they reside. They cannot live in continual fear of rising rents and taxes.
I will be a fighter for rent stabilization and stronger rent laws. I will provide leadership on the fairness of property tax increases. I will also educate residents on taking advantage of public/private homeownership opportunities.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
EDUCATION AND CHILDCARE – I stand for public early childhood education initiatives, educational funding that is prioritized, real choice for middle schools and more after school programs.
HEALTHCARE – Utilizing and funding health programs to inform residents on access to quality healthcare and preventative health strategies.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – Developing a comprehensive approach that addresses community needs, revitalization of small businesses, increased vocational training and innovative job opportunities.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I have extensive experience working in city government, working with business leaders and most important – COMMUNITY RESIDENTS. Working in the City Council Office for 3 years, then working in the Manhattan Borough President’s Office for 6 years, and now as District Manager of CB10 has put me in a daily contact with city agencies and key community decision makers for the past 10 years. I know how to get city services and resources delivered and I understand the city budget process. I have a pulse and a connection to the community which allows me to say that I know the district better that any other candidate in the 9th Council District.
