1. What is the most important issue in Council District 33 you would address if elected?
Jobs & Our Economy. There is a real connection between national policies of war and for-profit health insurance and the local crises we face with affordable housing, health care access, school and MTA transit cuts, wage reductions and businesses closing, debt, and funding for parks. We are increasingly unable to meet local needs for infrastructure and quality of life. I call the affordable housing and health care crises a hidden Katrina - tens of thousands have been forced to the streets and there are 400,000 uninsured Brooklynites. Local leaders must work together to exert pressure on Albany and Washington to bring Medicare for All and to funnel the trillions of tax dollars wasted on war back to our cities and neighborhoods.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Parks, Affordable Housing & Education. When hard working people, including so many middle income workers who are the backbone of our infrastructure, can't afford to live, they can't afford to participate in their children's lives or education. And when parents can't participate at home or at school our children lose out on a better future.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Know-how, Leadership & Political Courage. As an engineer, I understand that building a sustainable infrastructure takes funding. War is killing our wallets and robbing our coffers of the funds needed to build and maintain this infrastructure. I will use my voice forcefully and thoughtfully to stand up for my district and my city. I'll fight to bring tax revenue home to NYC where it belongs. I won't be content to settle for the status quo.
