Deputy Borough President
James P. Molinaro is running for the office of Staten
Island Borough President on the Republican, Conservative
and Right-to-Life lines.
Since 1990, Molinaro has served as Deputy Borough
President in the administration of Borough President
Guy Molinari. Prior to that, he was Molinari’s Chief
of Staff in Congress since 1981.
A leader in government for over 20 years, Molinaro
has been actively involved in closure of the Fresh
Kills garbage dump, restoration of the South Beach
boardwalk, creation of the Staten Island Yankees
ballpark, opening new schools and parks, and many
other historic accomplishments for the borough.
“I have worked in close partnership with Borough
President Molinari, Mayor Giuliani, and Governor
Pataki to protect Staten Island’s quality of life,”
Molinaro said. “Our rezoning initiative to
control development will prevent up to 75,000 new
homes from being built. Since 1994, we have added
over 1700 acres of new parkland to Staten Island,
bringing the borough’s total up to 9,200 acres -
one fourth of its total land mass.”
Molinaro is endorsed by Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Governor
George Pataki, and nearly every leading Republican
elected official on Staten Island.
Beyond public service, Molinaro is active on the
Boards of numerous charitable and not-for-profit
organizations, including St. Vincent’s Hospital
Regional Board. He presently serves on the Board
of St. Elizabeth Ann’s Rehabilitation Center, which
he helped establish for care of the elderly and
chronically ill. Molinaro also played a key role
in opening Staten Island’s new Heart Institute,
where Islanders can receive life-saving cardiac
care locally instead of traveling out-of-the-borough.
Molinaro is in the forefront of creating new senior
housing and senior centers on Staten Island. As
Borough President, he would continue efforts to
establish new schools and libraries, institute sensible
improvements to reduce traffic congestion, and to
control development. Among his top priorities is
adding more recreation centers and ball fields for
young people.
