I am pleased to run as candidate for the
51st City Council District as a member of the
Green Party with the support of the Liberal Party
and of the Independence Party. I have lived on
Staten Island since I was two years old and I
would like to help to keep Staten Island and the
South Shore a beautiful place to live. I have
worked for the NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation
for 34 years and have worked 22 years here on
Staten Island as a supervisor.
I seek election to the position of Councilman so
that I can help carry out a more progressive
agenda for New York City, Staten Island and the
South Shore. This progressive agenda includes
providing more money to build schools, improve
mass transit, ease traffic congestion and to make
our roads safer for drivers and pedestrians. We
need to increase the acreage for parks, nature
preserves and recreational facilities for use by
families, sports people and environmentalists. We
still have some open space left for our parks and
New York City has a large budget surplus to help
us buy this property if the City doesn’t already
own it. To add to this agenda we should have a
building moratorium in order to create a
comprehensive plan for the future of Staten
Island.
We should be able to elect community board members
so that we can have grassroots democracy and be
able control what comes into our neighborhoods. I
also pledge to you that I will make sure city
services are run effectively and efficiently and
that the city gets the job done. You can fight
City and Borough Halls.
