Janey’s primary goals are improving
education, transportation, quality of life on
Staten Island (SI), and creating a right size
development plan. The Democratic and Working
Families Parties, SI Democratic Association, Young
Democrats of SI support her views.
Janey believes NYC must spend more money on new
schools, after school programs, school repairs,
books, supplies, and teacher and school personnel
salaries and incentives. She recognizes the
importance of developing curricula to meet newly
instituted standards. Janey supports the Board of
Education and feels it is neither necessary nor
beneficial for private companies to restructure
our schools.
She will address the issue of limited public
transportation from the South Shore of SI to
points on the Island and into Manhattan. She will
advocate for increased bus runs and the addition
of adequate parking near transportation. Janey
believes in the MTA and wants to reduce the
dependency of the South Shore on private bus
companies. She believes money spent on increasing
MTA bus runs benefits NYC personnel and unions.
Janey wants to create more environmentally safe
parks and playgrounds and increase recreational
facilities for our youth. She believes a fourth
police precinct must be built on SI. To increase
safety and shorten response times, the 123rd
Precinct needs more cars and officers. New state
of the art libraries are needed on SI and existing
libraries must be outfitted with modern resources
and technology.
She recognizes housing starts must be tied to
school seat availability and new school
construction. Development must be planned around
available transportation, and construction of
shopping centers and recreational facilities.
Janey Moran has made a difference in our community
through over 20 years of service. She pledges to
serve her full term when elected and is prepared
to continue her commitment to her community.
