1. What is the most important issue in Council District 28 you would address if elected?
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & UNEMPLOYMENT: I treat the two as inextricably linked because the lack of economic development in District 28 exacerbates unemployment. We need to do more to attract, assist, and sustain small businesses in the District.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
EDUCATION: We must reduce class sizes & give NYC Teachers a fair and comprehensive contract.
SENIOR CITIZENS: I support a complete property tax exemption for all low-income senior citizens & increased funding for District 28 senior citizen centers.
ZONING: I will introduce a bill to make the City responsible for sidewalk repairs not homeowners.
HEALTHCARE: I support a mandatory salary of at least $15 per hour for Home Healthcare Workers with benefits to be written in each contract that the City & State signs with any home care agency.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING: We must encourage developers to build larger numbers of low and middle income housing.
ILLEGAL CONVERSIONS: We must work to end these violations that put people’s lives at risk by increased enforcement and making affordable housing a reality.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
District 28 is very diverse. I have a long track record of working across all ethnic and geographic divides in this District.
As the Nominee of the Working Families Party, I will do just that. I will represent the interests of working families.
