1. What is the most important issue in Council District 28 you would address if elected?
The most important issue in Council District 28 is twofold, jobs and education. I intend to put my constituents back to work so they can take care of their families. The education of our children doesn't begin or end with a six hour school day; I will work to provide district wide programs that promote continued learning while focusing on leadership and cultural enrichment.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
The mortgage foreclosure crisis has devastated neighborhoods in our community. I will continue my work with the residents, banks and non profit organizations to preserve and encourage homeownership. The loss of two hospitals in Queens is a major issue. I intend to work with healthcare providers and community stakeholders to try and open Primary Healthcare Clinics.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
Public service is not merely a job for me, it is a commitment that my family and I have made to try to make a difference, to try to improve the quality of life for others. I have spent more than a decade fighting for senior services, better healthcare, affordable housing, and youth services. My experience working for Councilman Leroy Comrie and State Senator Shirley Huntley has taught me how to work with people from all ages, ethnicities and economic backgrounds. I understand how government works and I believe by working with the residents of district 28 I will be able to bring much needed resources home. If given the opportunity I intend to work diligently in the City Council to bring empowering change to the hardworking constituents of the 28th District. I will work with my colleagues to improve the lives of all New Yorkers.
