1. What is the most important issue in Council District 1 you would address if elected?
Accountability, Accessibility and Transparency through Technology. The district office needs to improve its community support. Currently, the staff is not equipped to effectively respond to community concerns in a timely manner. My first priority will be to address the needs of the people in our district. When elected, I will ensure that you will be connected to your neighborhood's political world by establishing area district offices and creating neighborhood webportals. Residents will be informed about scheduled events, street closures, parking, school information and other important happenings in their neighborhood. Every neighborhood in the district will have its own dedicated site to ensure that each area has its own issues, questions and concerns addressed immediately. Today's world runs on the internet and so should today's government.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Improving Education. As the father of a young child and a vocal member of the downtown community, I have continually supported the call for more schools and higher educational standards. This issue is of particular importance now given the growing number of families calling District One home. Affordable housing, parking and promoting small businesses in our community are also top priorities for me; please visit www.arthurgregory.org for more information.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
As a business owner, family man and political activist, I have witnessed the many changes our community has faced in recent years. My strong record of community service clearly speaks to my dedication to the community and my commitment to those I serve. If elected, I will use modern technology to increase accountability and bring government back to the people.
